SPENCERVILLE — Fire crews hadn’t left the scene of a house fire in Spencerville before another fire broke out in another home.
Spencerville Fire Chief Dave Evans said a fire broke out at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 104 S. College St. The cause of the fire remained under investigation, but it was believed to have started in an upstairs bedroom. Evans said no one was home at the time of the fire, there were no injuries.
The home is owned by Gregory E. Spence and is valued at $53,700, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website.
Evans said the Delphos Fire Department assisted with the scene.
Before crews were finished at the home, another call came in for a house fire located less than a mile away.
A fire broke out in an upstairs bedroom at about 2:15 p.m. at a home located at 305 W. North St. The exact cause of fire remained under investigation, Evans said.
Christina Grigsby, of Spencerville, was at home, sleeping.
Evans said a passing motorist noticed the smoke and alerted Grigsby, who escaped safely. Evans said Grigsby has five children who were not at home during the time of the fire.
The home is owned by Michael L. and Mary Jane Grisgby and is valued at $53,200, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website.
American Township Fire Department also assisted with the scene. Neither home was considered a total loss, Evans said.
