Association to hold support groups
Northwest Ohio’s Alzheimer’s Association chapter is holding a number of caregiver support groups in the coming month.
Dates, times and locations include:
• 7 p.m. Tuesday, Elmcroft of Lima, Elmcroft of Lima, 2075 N. Eastown Road, Lima. This group meets the first Tuesday of every month.
• 3:30 p.m. March 16, Bluffton’s Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton. This group meets the third Monday of every month.
• 2 p.m. March 26, Lima Convalescent Home, 1650 Allentown Road, Lima. This group meets the fourth Thursday of every month.
Group meetings are free. Registration is not required.
Take action to keep seniors safe
Officials from Home Instead Senior Care want to remind families with seniors living at home to take certain precautions during inclement weather. Precautions include; make the senior home free of hazards, both inside (shower rails) and outside (shoveling snow/ice), ensure the senior takes preventative health measures, encourage him or her to use assistive equipment, check in on him or her, monitor medications, attend doctor’s visits, assess balance and make sure he or she is safe to drive.
Scholarships offered for health careers
Blanchard Valley Health System is offering educational scholarships to people pursuing health care careers. Hospital associates, current college students and high school seniors entering college are eligible to apply.
