COLDWATER — Coldwater Machine Company is expanding into a different, more southern market.
The engineering solutions company is opening a new location in Greenville, South Carolina, according to a release from the company.
The location will be a sales office and was selected due to the amount of automotive, energy and heavy industry companies to complement what Coldwater Machine Company does. The company designs, manufactures and integrates precision equipment for a variety of industries, according to a release.
“Coldwater has an extensive heritage of providing inventive, productive and value-driven manufacturing solutions,” Coldwater Machine President Tim McCaughey said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing our expertise with Greenville-area companies while helping to expand our geographic footprint and sales potential.”
Supermarkets help stop hunger
LIMA — Fresh Encounter, Inc. has collected $21,722 to help stop food shortage concern in Ohio and Indiana through a program called Making Change.
“We don’t think families across Ohio and Indiana should be worrying about the source of their next meal,” stated Fresh Encounter President/CEO Michael Needler, Jr., in a statement. “The Making Change program allows us the freedom to focus donations to areas with the most or immediate need.”
The program works through customer donations at check out at Fresh Encounters stores. Fresh Encounters is the parent company of Chief, Community Markets, Sack & Save and Great Scot supermarkets.
The donations go to local non-profit organizations that focus on food assistance, according to a release from Fresh Encounter.
This is the sixth year Fresh Encounters has done the initiative, and the first year for Chief, newly acquired by the company.
Chamber encourages businesses to participate in “buy local”
LIMA — The Lima Allen County Chamber of Commerce is working to promote buying local through social media.
It sent information out to members encouraging them to update their business profiles and create “eye-catching” promotions for websites, email and social media.
Free manufacturing training offered
LIMA — Those interested can get free manufacturing training in February.
The month-long class will prepare entry-level manufacturing employees and is through the West Central Ohio Manufacturing Consortium from Feb. 4 to Feb. 27 at Ohio Means Jobs. It will be Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The curriculum in the class, called Basic Manufacturing Pathway, reflects skills manufacturing companys require for entry-level positions. It covers math, quality, safety, continuous improvement and soft skills.
“Demand has remained strong for manufacturing jobs in this region, and this course can help prepare students for applying for these jobs,” said WCOMC Director Doug Durliat in a statement. “We have made changes to this course to reflect industry’s skill needs for entry-level employees.”
