LIMA — Gas prices were down across the board in Lima this week.

On Monday, prices showed a modest decrease of about 1 cent from Sunday’s price of $2.17 per gallon and an approximately 16 cent decrease from last week’s average of $2.32, according to prices reported by GasBuddy.com.

The average was $2.16 per gallon in Lima on Monday, while the state’s average was slightly higher at $2.24 per gallon. State prices have fallen about 13 cents since last week, according to GasBuddy.

“Motorists have seen a quiet week at the pump, with gasoline prices in much of the country in gentle decline,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst, in a statement. “The current downward trend in the national average bucks what we were seeing a year ago, when gasoline prices were in an upward trend, and what we’re seeing with prices remaining relatively low should boost motorist confidence as the summer driving season nears.”

DeHaan expects summer gas prices to be at the lowest they’ve been since 2010, according to a release from GasBuddy.com.

As for this week, prices in local counties hovered between state and Lima prices per gallon. Allen County had the lowest average price ($2.16 per gallon), with Hardin and Van Wert counties trailing close behind ($2.18). Then came Putnam and Auglaize counties ($2.19), followed by Hancock County ($2.23). Mercer County had the highest price at the pump of $2.26 per gallon.
