LIMA — Gas prices were up 16.9 cents from last week in Allen County, according to prices reported by GasBuddy.com.
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.20 on Monday morning. That’s up sharply from last week’s average of $2.03 and last month’s average of $1.98. It’s still 11 cents lower than last year’s average, though.
“This past week gasoline prices saw the largest weekly incline since July 2013,” said Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy. “While the pace of increases will slow in the week ahead, we’re looking at continued gas price increases over the next few weeks. Oil prices have risen, contributing to the higher prices, but also worrisome are the refinery strikes initiated over the last week that have oil companies scrambling to keep refineries online.”
Prices in the region were lowest in Hardin County, at $2.15, followed by Auglaize County at $2.17 and then Allen County. Mercer County ($2.22 per gallon), Putnam County ($2.23), Hancock County ($2.25) and Van Wert County ($2.28) rounded out the region’s rankings Monday morning.
The average price in Ohio was up 19.3 cents from last week’s average and up 21 cents from last month’s average. It’s still down $1.11 from the 2014 average. The national average was an increase of 12.6 cents since last week.
