Skinner receives award

Steve Skinner, of Able Towing Services, of Elida, has received the Order of Towman from American Towman Magazine.

The Cross of the Order, a Maltese Cross with a unique towing icon sculpted inside, is awarded to a towing professional for his or her dedication to the towing trade and for serving the community. Recipients of the order were nominated by police and fire chiefs from across the nation. Skinner was nominated by Chief Tom Hadding from American Township Fire Dept.

Professionals who receive the Cross of the Order are an elite organization of towing professionals nationwide.

PROMOTIONS

LFD announces promotions

The Lima Fire Department announced the promotions of three personnel.

Firefighter John Craft was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Lt. Craft is an 18-year veteran of the Lima Fire Department. He has completed the Fire Officer Level 1 training program. Lt. Craft has been assigned to Central Fire Station on C-Platoon.

Lt. Kevin Clark was promoted to the rank of Captain. Clark is a 19-year veteran of the Lima Fire Department. He has completed the Fire Officer Level 1 and 2 training programs. Captain Clark has been assigned to Fire Station No. 2 on C-Platoon.

Lt. Jack McDermitt was promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain McDermitt is a 15-year veteran of the Lima Fire Department. He has completed the Fire Officer Level 1 and 2 training programs. McDermitt has been assigned to Fire Station No. 3 on B-Platoon.

APPOINTMENTS

Rep. Cupp appointed chair of committee

State Representative Bob Cupp has been appointed to serve as the primary and secondary education subcommittee chair of the house finance committee.

Cupp is serving his first term as state representative. He was a member of the Ohio Senate from 1985 to 2000 and served as Senate president pro tempore from 1997 to 2000.
