UNION TOWNSHIP — Icy roads caused a woman to slide off the road and roll her vehicle Wednesday night.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Laura A. Atkin, 41, of Bluffton, was traveling eastbound on county Road 24 when she lost control of her vehicle due to ice on the road, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

Atkin traveled off the north side of the road, struck a culvert and rolled her vehicle until she came to a stop in a field on the north side of county Road 24.

She was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital by Hanco Valley EMS. As of Thursday morning, she was listed as a patient in the coronary care unit, however her status was unknown.

The incident is still under investigation.
