COLUMBUS — Women in the state are dying from breast cancer at a higher rate than the rest of the country, according to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

That’s why the organization is encouraging Ohio taxpayers to donate some of their state income tax return to help fight breast cancer, according to a release from the organization.

To do so, taxpayers can check a box on their return to donate right to Ohio’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, which has been able to serve only five percent of the eligible women in the state with its current funding, according to the release.

The program provides women with access to early detection, diagnostics and treatment.
