WASHINGTON — The U.S. House of Representative’s Energy and Commerce Committee’s Environment and the Economy Subcommittee has scheduled a legislative hearing on H.R. 212, the Drinking Water Protection Act, sponsored by U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, for 10 a.m. Thursday.

The hearing can be watched online and will feature testimony on the bill from relevant stakeholders.

Latta introduced the Drinking Water Protection Act to help protect drinking water from harmful algal blooms produced by cyanotoxins, which caused a water emergency in Northwest Ohio last August. The bipartisan bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency to develop and submit a strategic plan to Congress for assessing and managing the risks associated with cyanotoxins in drinking water.
