ST. MARYS — A 26-year-old man is wanted in a rape of a minor investigation in St. Marys.
David H. Andrews Jr. has been charged with one count of rape, a first-degree felony, and one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony.
St. Marys Police Chief Mark Ernst said while at a residence in St. Marys, Andrews raped the minor around noon Saturday.
The victim’s family called in to the police station the same day, Ernst said. The victim is an acquaintance of Andrews.
He is suspected to have fled to Chicago, however police officers were still investigating his whereabouts. He has not contacted his family since leaving the area. Andrews has no previous criminal history in St. Marys, Ernst said.
The investigation was ongoing over the weekend. Further details were unavailable late Tuesday.
