Ex-Bluffton coach entering Hall of Fame

Former Bluffton coach Steve Bruckotter will be among those honored Jan. 30 when the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches will hold its annual Hall of Fame banquet at the Hilton at Easton in Columbus at 6:30 p.m.

Bruckotter became the Bluffton head coach in 1977, coaching and the girls beginning in 1985, and held the position until his retirement in 2008. During his tenure the Pirates 35 boys and 11 girls won state championships as individuals or part of relays. The boys team won the state title in 2008 and was state runner-up in 1978, 1985 and 1992. The girls were state runners-up in 1997, the same year Bruckotter won the Fred Dafler State Coach of the Year Award.
