DETROIT, MI — Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith spoke at the United States Conference of Mayors on Tuesday in Detroit, Michigan.
Smith shared information about Lima with the bipartisan conference, which included Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb.
The mayor called the residents of Lima the backbone of the county and addressed housing affordability by calling for a change in income tax credits to build more single-family homes.
Smith blamed stagnant wages, aging housing stock and an abundance of infill lots going unused for causing the crisis and called for more grant funding for families to buy and preserve homes.
