LIMA — Allen, Van Wert and Putnam counties are under an elevated risk of fires to spread rapidly from 8 a.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday due to a combination of strong winds, dry conditions and high temperatures.
The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana offered the following tips in a Facebook post:
• Be careful with any equipment that may emit sparks;
• Properly dispose of cigarettes;
• Avoid outdoor burning and any activities that involve open flames;
• Abide by any burn bans in your county;
• Have a water source nearby to extinguish any fires.
