ST. MARYS — The 11th annual SIDS Awareness 5K Run/Walk is Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Mill Park Shelter House, 100 W. High St., St. Marys.
Hosted by the Grand Lake Health System, the main focus is to educate the community about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and ways to prevent it with the public.
The SIDS Awareness 5K was started to honor Landen Philpot, who passed away at three months old due to SIDS. Landen’s father was an employee at the time, and employees wanted a way to honor Landen while also providing valuable education.
The race was moved to October to coincide with SIDS Awareness Month after being held in May. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. on Oct. 12. Same-day registration is available.
