Lima schools’ hall of fame banquet is Thursday

LIMA — Lima schools will host its Alumni Hall of Fame banquet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Lima Senior High School, 1 Spartan Way, Lima.

This year’s inductees are:

• Dr. Curtis Glenn, Lima Senior Class of 1988, retired combat veteran, pastor, police chaplain and community volunteer.

• Dennis J. Henderson, Lima Senior Class of 1975, Harvard University and Harvard Law graduate, real estate and finance attorney.

• Dr. Randall E. Henderson, Lima Senior Class of 1978, anesthesiologist, volunteers at clinics providing free health care.

• William Hansen Laws, Lima Senior Class of 1970, defense attorney, volunteer attorney for Free Legal Services program.

• Dr. Mark McDonald, Lima Senior Class of 1982, orthopaedic surgeon, Institute of Orthopaedic Surgery Hospital founder, longtime team doctor and supporter.

• Col. Russell A. Mericle, Jr., posthumously, Central Class of 1952, West Point graduate, highly decorated U.S. Army colonel, served in Korea and Vietnam.

• Greg Pitts, Lima Senior Class of 1983, artist, photographer, filmmaker and fashion designer.

• Dr. Charles A. Rossfeld, Central Class of 1952, dentist, provided free dental services to Lima schools students.

• Virgil Mann, service to Lima schools, teacher, administrator.

This is the 13th class of alumni to be inducted into the Lima schools’ hall of fame.

A reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the program at 6:30 p.m.Thursday’s meal will be prepared by the students enrolled in the high school’s culinary program.

The high school will honor inductees during halftime of the Friday, Oct. 11, football game. The game begins at 7 p.m.
