Two from Convoy among three injured in Williams County crash

WILLIAMS COUNTY — A car driven by a teenager failed to yield at a stop sign at an intersection, causing serious injuries for three people, including two people from Convoy, on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 5:12 p.m. on U.S. 127, at the intersection of county Road I.50 in Jefferson Township, Williams County.

Jacee Altaffer, 18, of Montpelier, drove a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on county Road I.50 when she failed to yield at the stop sign and went into the intersection. Her vehicle was then struck by a 2023 Hyundai Tucson, driven by Sommer Wolford, 46, of Convoy, which headed south on U.S. 127 with a passenger 53-year-old Tracey Wolford, also of Convoy. Both vehicles traveled off the east side of U.S. 127.

Williams County EMS transported both of the Wolfords to Bryan Hospital. Tracey Wolford was later transported via Life Flight to ProMedica Toledo Hospital with serious injuries.

Williams County EMS took Altaffer to Bryan Hospital, before Life Flight transported her to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Also assisting on scene were Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Brady Township Fire & Rescue, Brett’s Towing and Hutch’s Towing.
