Former Celina resident publishes memoir

CELINA — A former Celina resident’s new memoir details her life and adoption by a prominent Mercer County doctor’s family.

Author Janice Jones came to Celina in 1947 when she was adopted by Dr. And Mrs. Ralph Beare.

Her memoir, “Dr. Beare’s Daughter: Growing Up Adopted, Adored and Afraid,” is an account of her life as an adoptee living in Celina in the 1950s and ‘60s.

The book features Jones’s “memories of people she knew, her school days at Immaculate Conception, summer days on Harbor Point, boating on Grand Lake, and the excitement of hydroplane racing with her father’s team,” according to the book summary.

Jones is a freelance editor and writer in Michigan.This is Jones’s fourth book, which is on sale through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other bookstores.
