Letter: Learn the truth and vote for State Issue 1

Political rot needs to be weeded out.

In the recent past, voters in Ohio have twice voted to end the games played with redistricting. Each time, the current politicians in power have twisted the plan to their advantage.

For reference, read the story from the Ohio Capital Journal, “What is Ohio Issue 1? We explain November’s proposed redistricting reform amendment.” You may learn something valuable.

Voters should choose their representatives, not representatives choosing their voters.

Do not be confused by longtime politicians’ twisting the truth to cement their agendas.

Hired by our Ohio legislature, taxpayers (you and I) paid out-of-state experts to come up with a plan to fix this. The current powers stopped them before they could complete their report. They paid them off, sent them home and forged ahead with their biased agenda. It has been like a soap opera!

Both major political parties have taken liberties and advantage of their position when they were in power, and passage of Ohio State Issue 1 will fix that problem.

You will see two signs being put out, one reads, “Stop gerrymandering no” on Issue 1. The other reads, “Yes on 1 ban gerrymandering in Ohio.”

Study just a little bit, and you will see that a no vote only continues the gerrymandering.

Remember “a lie often told becomes the new truth.” Do not be taken in by slick politicians.

A yes vote on Ohio State Issue 1 is the best way forward.
