Letter: Best way to support democracy is voting

Voting 101: “How To Win An Election.” It means a lot to the candidate, win or lose. It means a lot to the voter, win or lose.

We have good candidates in this election: many township trustees, school board members, city council members and more.

The person you want to win will lose without “you.” The “you” is the key factor in any race. Staying home does not elect anyone.

Remember Harry Moyer and the time he lost the election in 1985? (From the book: “Not All Politics Is Local” by William D. Angel Jr.) He lost by four votes because he, his wife, their son and another couple were not in Lima for the vote. Those five votes would have let him win by one vote.

Yes, this could happen to your candidate choice without you on the voting day. To be happy and to help your favorite candidate, all you have to do is show up and vote.

Remember: Staying home does not elect anyone!
