Ridgemont student in custody for alleged threat

KENTON — A 16-year-old Ridgemont student faces preliminary charges of inducing panic for reportedly threatening a “bloodbath” at the high school Wednesday, according to Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart.

Ridgemont officials and the high school’s resource officer immediately removed the student from class Wednesday to investigate the alleged threat, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The student is being held at the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center until his arraignment in Hardin County Juvenile Court, according to the release.

School officials notified parents of the incident through the district’s parent application as soon as the investigation was complete Wednesday, according to the release.
