Lima seeks new public works director

LIMA —Lima Public Works director Kirk Niemeyer has moved on to a position outside the city, according to Jessica Begonia.

The city of Lima opened up a listing for a new director Thursday.

“Kirk Niemeyer accepted a new position outside of city government. We appreciate the significant contributions he made to our community during his tenure and we wish him the best in his future endeavors,” the public information officer for the city said. “As we move forward, we remain committed to ensuring that our public works department continues to operate effectively and efficiently.”

The listing calls for anyone with a Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business, architecture, engineering or a related field with seven years of experience in public works operating to submit résumés for the position.

The public works director is responsible for overseeing personnel-related activities and supervision of the department; establishing and implementing policies, processes and procedures; preparing budgets; developing goals, plans and measurements; developing programs; pursuing resources for capital improvement projects related to infrastructure networks; making applications for grants and administering them; reviewing and approving construction plans and programs; performing field inspections and administering contracts for improvements.

The position answers directly to Mayor Sharetta Smith.
