COLUMBUS GROVE — A motor vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon closed down a Putnam County intersection, knocking down power lines and possibly damaging a bridge.
Departments responded to the corner of state Route 65 and state Route 12 to respond to an accident around noon Tuesday. The incident snapped electrical poles and hit a bridge crossing.
The Ohio Department of Transportation reported the intersection would remain closed for five to 10 hours. Crews will inspect a bridge crossing state Route 12, labeled Delphos Road inside the village, on Wednesday morning.
AEP Ohio was on the scene working to restore electricity. As of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, 288 customers remained without electricity, according to the company’s outage map.
