Lima man sentenced to prison for drug possession

LIMA — A Lima man was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday in Allen County Common Pleas Court for the aggravated possession of drugs, a first-degree felony.

Pacheco Melendez, 41, is also required to pay a $10,000 fine and forfeit the $242 found with Melendez.

According to a previous news release from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, on April 16, the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and the FBI’s North West Ohio Safe Streets Task Force served a search warrant at 412 S. Leonard Ave., Lima. Officers discovered about 200 grams of suspected methamphetamine, suspected psilocybin mushrooms, U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia.

Court documents said task force officers performed a field test which confirmed the drug was methamphetamine. Melendez admitted to the officers he used and sold the drug, and he admitted he regularly made trips to Dayton to pick it up.
