Lima daycare center celebrating second location

LIMA — The Little Rockies Learning Center and Church on the Rock will be hosting their third Love Lima campaign and open house for the new Little Rockies Learning Center location on August 3, 2024.

The new location is at 301 W. North Street in downtown Lima, and will be big enough for 144 children.

“We are going to be needing about 20 employees,” said Matthew Wilder, Executive Director of Little Rockies Learning Center.

In July 2020, the center reached their full capacity within four months. By the end of 2021, it received the “Child Care Resource and Referral” 2021 Provider of the Year award.

This year, the center received a competitive grant from the State of Ohio & The Department of Children & Youth in the amount of $425,000, making it possible for an additional location.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the new location on Friday, August 2 at 11 a.m., courtesy of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce.

The third annual Love Lima Block Party will be on Saturday, August 3 from 12-3 p.m. “It’s the church’s way of giving back to the community,” Wilder stated.
