Four injured in crash in Logan County

BELLE CENTER — A Lima man and a juvenile in his car were flown by medical helicopter to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries after their vehicle struck a tree. Two others in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital.

The Marysville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported the incident took place at 7:34 p.m. Thursday on state Route 117, in Logan County’s Richland Township, according to a press release from the highway patrol.

Sean Smith, 39, of Lima, drove a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country north on 117 when he went off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

CareFlight transported Smith to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton and his juvenile occupant to Dayton Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Shantia Coles, 37, and another juvenile who were in the vehicle went to Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, via Indian Lake EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol wasn’t suspected in the incident, and all occupants of the vehicle were wearing properly adjusted seat belts, with child safety seats in use.

Assisting at the scene were also Huntsville Fire and EMS, Richland Township Fire Department and Tanner’s Towing.
