LOGAN TOWNSHIP — A Coldwater man died Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle went off the side of a road and struck a culvert, according to the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Robert L. Kahlig, 21, of Coldwater, was transported from the crash scene to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:27 p.m. Wednesday on Kossuth Amanda Road, near Kossuth Loop Road, in Auglaize County’s Logan Township, according to the highway patrol. Kahlig drove a 2021 Honda Insight eastbound on the road.
A preliminary investigation showed the Honda went off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert. The vehicle overturned, ejecting Kahlig, who was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the incident.
The incident remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta post of the highway patrol. Assisting at the scene were the Cridersville Fire Department and Buckland Fire Department.
