I’m writing in appreciation of Brice Brenneman’s column on the “strange case” of Dr. Doug Wine that appeared last Wednesday. I have read Brenneman’s book, “The Strange Case of Dr. Wine.”
In it, he lays out in detail points succinctly raised in his column, such as a polygraph examiner working with a broken machine, clearly made-up stories and the sloppy work of Auglaize County officials who refuse to acknowledge their errors. “Evidence” introduced at his trial was not evidence at all; rather, it was offered in the manner of Dr. Wine “must have done something.”
Every week we read of persons who have been falsely convicted and punished. Dr. Wine is a prime example of such sad cases.
