Fire destroys vacant Lima structure

LIMA — A fire destroyed a vacant multi-family structure on Lima’s South Pine Street on Sunday in what firefighters described as a suspicious fire.

The Lima Fire Department responded just before 4 a.m. to 145 S. Pine St., Lima, finding the two-story house on fire. Firefighters remained on scene of the two-alarm fire until 9:20 a.m.

The fire remains under investigation, but its cause is considered suspicious.

The multi-family dwelling was built in the early 1900s, remodeled in 1972 and valued at $45,300, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website. It’s been owned by Major T. Gordon, of Lima, since 2008.
