Allen County lifts Level 1 advisory

LIMA — Allen County lifted its Level 1 roadway advisory as of 12:50 p.m. Friday.

Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia had issued the advisory at 4:55 a.m. Friday, noting that roadways were snow or ice covered with possible drifting. Driving conditions were hazardous, and extreme caution was advised.

Auglaize County Sheriff Michael Vorhees and Putnam County Sheriff Brian Siefker also issued a Level 1 roadway advisories Friday morning. Those remain in effect Friday afternoon.

Most area schools started off with a two-hour delay today, before many decided to close.

Light snow continued to fall Friday morning. Another 1 to 2 inches of snow could fall by 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. A winter weather advisory remains under effect through 1 p.m. Friday.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 23 degrees today before dropping over the weekend, with a high of just 18 on Saturday evening and a high of just 16 on Sunday. Lows of 6 on Saturday morning and 9 on Sunday morning are expected.

With winds up to 30 mph, that could lead to very cold wind chills. The National Weather Service warned of wind chills of below zero all day Saturday, including minus-9 at 6 a.m. Saturday. That would continue into Sunday, with minus-4 at 6 a.m. before finally feeling like 6 by noon Sunday.
