LIMA — Six area children have advanced to the state hoop shoot competition after winning their classes in the Northwest Ohio Elks District Hoop Shoot at the Ohio State University-Lima/Rhodes State College campus’s Cook Hall on Sunday.
Participants each had 25 free-throw attempts.
Winners included Myra Unrast (8-9 girls, Mercer Co. Elks Lodge 2170, 14/25), Myma Dreyer (10-11 girls, Van Wert Elks Lodge 1197, 16/25), Kaya Fulmer (12-13 girls, Mercer Co. Elks Lodge 2170, 15/25), Parker Moeller (8-9 boys, Mercer Co. Elks Lodge 2170, 24/25), Marcus Eckstein (10-11 boys, Mercer Co. Elks Lodge 2170, 19/25) and Keaton Elwer (12-13, Lima Elks Lodge 54, 23/25).
The state tournament is Feb 17 in Newark. The regional tournament is March 16 in South Bend, Ind., with the national competition April 20 in Chicago.
