LIMA — The city of Lima is asking the Ohio Rail Development Commission for $24 million to build a railroad underpass at the intersection of Cable Road and the Chicago, Fort Wayne and Eastern tracks, the city announced via press release Friday.
The city submitted that application and a second request for $1.2 million in funding for the second phase of a project to mitigate traffic congestion at railroad crossings through the use of artificial intelligence and computer vision technology to monitor train traffic and predict crossing blockages.
