Lima Council moves meeting to Tuesday

LIMA — Lima City Council met Monday evening for its regular meeting, but one resolution and several ordinances were placed on hold until Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. A special meeting will be held due to three council members being absent from Monday’s meeting.

”Lima City Council requires a two-thirds affirmative vote to pass any ordinance or resolution,” Council President John Nixon said. “There has to be six of the eight of us here to reach that two-thirds. All of the resolutions and the ordinances to pass tonight would have required six people to be here and we all had to vote yes. We only have five. So we call a special meeting for tomorrow evening and we tabled the ordinances and resolution.”

The council members not in attendance Monday were 3rd Ward Councilor Carla Thompson, 4th Ward Councilor Peggy Ehora and 6th Ward Councilor Derry Glenn.
