Letter: Parks were there when we needed them most

The whole world is now coming off a miserable three-year window due to COVID-19. During that time period, the people in our area had the opportunity to feel somewhat normal, courtesy of the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Parks.

They remained open throughout the pandemic, providing wonderful hiking trails, great playgrounds, clean bathroom facilities and a chance for us all to relieve some of the stress created by a difficult time.

Now we as a community have a chance to thank them on Tuesday, May 2, by voting for both of their renewal levies. Because the park district operates within its means and is fiscally responsible, there are no new taxes, just a renewal of the current taxes.

Let’s continue our partnership with the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Parks; They were there for us when we needed them most.
