New spa opens in restored Wapak building

WAPAKONETA — The Be Well Spa & Nutrition Center at 4 E. Auglaize Street in Wapakoneta combines modern services with historic charm. Kendra Ferrall and Dr. Jonathan Tagle opened the spa with a ceremonial ribbon cutting Wednesday.

A spa is all about creating a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. During the restoration the building’s natural lighting, colors and textures were planned in the spa’s interior. Original light globes, both gas and electric, were found in the building and used again to evoke a calming and relaxing feeling. The dropped ceiling was removed, revealing an original ceiling that was restored. The chandeliers made of Austrian crystal were restored and used.

Ferrall said, “During COVID it was hard for us to get crews. So when everybody got sick or shut down, we got tired of waiting so we did almost all of the renovations… the major plumbing and electrical were hired, but all the cosmetics we pretty much did ourselves.”

More renovations are being planned for the back of the building to make the building accessible for people on the river walk.

Be Well will serve as a full service spa offering manicures, pedicures and facials. Dr. Tagle is trained in acupuncture as well as a state certified chiropractor. A hypnotherapist is on site and a nurse practitioner giving vitamin infusions is being planned for the near future.

Ferrall and Tagle have created a spa that is true to the building’s history while providing a modern experiences.

Be Well Spa & Nutrition Center is open Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 419-913-3333 to reserve a spa treatment.
