Commissioners approve purchase of new EMA bus

LIMA — Allen County Commissioners approved the purchase of a 2024 MH 33 Fred Diesel Command Bus for the Allen County Office of Homeland Security. The bus will cost $444,543 from American Rescue Plan Act money.

“We will be replacing our 1993 command bus with a brand new 2024 command bus,” said Homeland Security Director Tom Berger. “This allows for mobility of a command center to go out on large incidents and then also special events for first responders to run command and have communication abilities from the scene of where they are located.”

Berger said the bus is used about 13 times a year and for special events like fairgrounds and fireworks.
