Letter: Grateful to community for Blankets For Veterans

The people at Forest Park United Methodist Church and Pastor Lynda Lockwood would like to thank all of Lima and the surrounding areas for your kind support in donating lap and throw blankets for the six nursing homes at the Dayton VA Hospital Campus. There were a total of 709 blankets — quilts, crochet, regular blankets and throw blankets. Fourteen came from Lima Towers that went to the Lima VA Clinic at 750 W. North St., Lima.

This was the first year we did this. We would like to thank the Tom Ahl Dealership for donating and collecting the blankets on the west side. Other donors were WLIO for their advertising, U-Haul for donating boxes so we can send them to Dayton and to the two Kreeger brothers for the donation of the trailer so the blankets could be delivered to the Dayton VA Hospital and donated to the six nursing homes.

Monetary donations came from Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, American Legion Post 333 in Wapakoneta, Lafayette Church, Bluffton schools, JJ Sreenan, Pizza Hut and Forest Park Church Ladies Quilters Club.

It was a total success.

Thanks everybody for your support in leaving no veterans behind this holiday!
