Letter: Fischer has experience to help Supreme Court

We are writing to share with you and the Lima community why we are voting to re-elect Ohio Supreme Court Justice Patrick Fischer. Justice Fischer, who is seeking a second and final six-year term against Democrat appellate Judge Terri Jamison, has more experience as both a justice and a practitioner.

He knows our great state well, having served as an attorney in Cincinnati after graduating from Harvard Law School, a judge on the Cincinnati-based 1st District Court of Appeals and a justice on Ohio’s Supreme Court.

A self-described textualist, Justice Fischer is committed to enforcing the law as it is written. He does not believe that personal experience should influence his decision, but rather in enforcing Constitutional statutes as they are written. Justice Fischer is keenly aware of how important it is that the law is applied properly to the facts in each case.

We believe that Justice Fischer’s interest in professionalism and ethics is exactly what we need to vote to keep in Ohio’s Supreme Court. As NFIB Ohio Executive Director Roger Geiger states, “Small business owners remember the days of an activist court that dramatically drove up insurance premiums and workers’ compensation costs by a few who decided to legislate from the bench and circumnavigate the Ohio legislature. Ohio cannot afford to put its economy at risk.”

Join us in voting to re-elect Supreme Court Justice Pat Fischer on Nov. 8.
