OTTAWA — The Putnam County Auditor’s Office is reminding residents that the deadline for filing homestead exemption is June 1. To be eligible for this property tax reduction, a resident must be 65 years of age or be permanently and totally disabled while owning and occupying a home.
County residents who did not file for the exemption in 2014 but may have been eligible are asked to contact county auditor Robert Benroth by the first Monday of June. To obtain a homestead exemption application, call the auditor’s office at 419-523-6686 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays or visit www.co.putnam.oh.us.
