LIMA — Allen County Regional Transit Authority is making plans to create a Lima Loop for new trolleys downtown. The Lima Loop would travel from various points in the heart of the city taking passengers to their favorite shopping places and restaurants.
Currently, the RTA has one trolley in its fleet, but this program would require the purchase of one or two more. The trolleys would be available on the weekends, running Thursday through Saturday.
“We would like to start ‘Lima Loop’ at the beginning of summer next year in congruence with the amphitheater and other new openings downtown,” said RTA Operations Director Brian Wildermuth. “We would like to make it a whole different route and tie it in with things going on downtown, sort of like a weekend and evening thing.”
