Chainze Tucker pleaded guilty in Allen County Common Pleas Court to multiple felonies Thursday ahead of a scheduled jury trial that was to begin Aug. 16. Tucker now faces up to 20 years in prison.

After reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors on Thursday, a Lima man will face up to 20 years in prison on charges stemming from a March shooting at Marko’s Sports and Spirits.
Chainze Tucker, 32, was scheduled to have a jury trial beginning Aug. 16 in the court of Judge Terri Kohlrieser. Tucker was indicted in June by a grand jury in Allen County on a first-degree felony charge of attempted murder in connection with the shooting of Ralph Upshaw.
Tucker faced multiple other counts. He had been indicted on charges of felonious assault, a second-degree felony; carrying repeat violent offender and firearm specifications; three separate third-degree felony charges of having weapons under disability; a third-degree felony charge of tampering with evidence; a fourth-degree felony charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and a fifth-degree felony charge of possession of cocaine.
As part of the plea agreement, the first-degree felony charge of attempted murder was dismissed. Tucker pleaded guilty to felonious assault, a felony of the second degree, as well as the firearm specification. The repeat violent offender specification was dropped.
The felonious assault carries a minimum sentence of 2-8 years. The firearms specification carries another minimum of three years, which will be served consecutively with the sentence for assault.
Tucker additionally pleaded guilty to the three counts of having weapons while under disability, all felonies of the third-degree. All other charges were dismissed.
Tucker’s sentencing is set for Tuesday June 28.
