DELPHOS — Jefferson pitcher Braxton Scalf picked up the win after going seven innings while surrendering six hits. Scalf struck out two and walked two. At the plate, Brenen Auer, who went 2 for 3, hit a double and drove in a run and Conner Anspach was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Delphos St. John’s Matthew Miller had a double.
Jefferson improves to 13-9 and St. John’s falls to 7-16.
Miller City 10, Pandora-Gilboa 0
MILLER CITY — Miller City’s Noah Otto and Tyler Schroeder combined on a two hitter. For Miller City at the plate, Otto helped himself by going 3 for 3 with five RBI. Mark Kuhlman, Jeremy DeMuth and Tyler Schroeder all collected two hits each.
Van Wert 4, Coldwater 3
VAN WERT — Van Wert pitchers Holden Willingham and Lawson Blackmore combined for a six hitter while fanning seven and walking three. At the plate, Cougar Jaxson Amweg went 2 for 3 and Parker Conrad was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Jonathon Lee went 3 for 4.
Lincolnview 5, Kalida 0
MIDDLE POINT — Linconview’s Ethan Parson picked up the win after going 6 and one-third innings, allowing six hits while fanning seven and walking three. At the plate for Lincolnview Cheyton Overholt went 3 for 4 including an inside-the-park home run and Jaden Youtesey was 1 for 3 while driving in two RBI.
Kalida falls to 15-7.
Leipsic 9, Ottoville 1
OTTOVILLE — Leipsic’s Cole Rieman fired a four-hitter while fanning four and walking none. Riemen helped himself at the plate by going 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBI and Dylan Schroeder went 2 for 5 with an RBI.
Softball
Parkway 10, Wapakoneta 4
WAPAKONETA — Parkway’s Macy Henkle went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Haley Hawk had a single, triple and two RBI and Bailey Bates had a single and double and McKenna Temple had a single and a two -run homer for Parkway. Grace Jolly and Kaylee Huggins had two hit games for Wapakoneta.
Parkway improves to 18-4 and Wapakoneta falls to 16-4.
Miller City 6, Leipsic 1
LEIPSIC — Miller City’s Kylie Berner picked up the win after scattering nine hits and striking out five. Offensively for Miller City Megan Niese 2 for 3 and Berner was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Allison Ruhe was 2 for 4. Makenna Lehman went 2 for 4 with two RBI and Natalie Koenig was 2 for 3.
Miller City ends the season at 7-8 (5-1 PCL).
Signings
Elida pair to sign letters of intent
Elida’s Jordyn Stewart will be signing a letter of intent to accept a scholarship to further her education and bowling career at Lourdes University. The signing will take place in the Commons at Elida High School at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Noah Paris will also sign with Heidelberg University for track.
Shawnee middle school makes mark at meet
Shawnee sent five athletes to the Ohio High School Athletic Association state track meet in Lancaster on Saturday.
Karrington Green set a new school record of 15.61 in the 100m hurdles, placing second overall. Isaiah Johns placed 11th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:56.06. The boys 4×400 team, consisting of Gabe Rutter, Evan Clayton, Isaiah Johns, and Jacob Miller, once again set a new school record of 3:46.88, placing 6th overall. The original record was from 1991, and the boys this year broke it on three separate occasions, with their fastest time at Saturday’s state meet. This is the first time Shawnee has been able to send athletes to the meet. To qualify, an athlete has to record one of the 16 best times, jumps, or throws in Ohio.

Flowers leaving Pitt
Lima Senior graduate Rueben Flowers has announced he is leaving the University of Pittsburgh on twitter Tuesday.
Flowers said in his announcement that he thanked the University of Pittsburgh, the fans and the coaching staff and finished by saying he was transferring from Pitt. No word on where he will be transferring.
Flowers was red-shirted his freshman year and played in six games in 2017.
