LIMA — Lima Municipal Court Judge David Rodabaugh, who has held that position for the past 20 months on an appointment basis, was issued the oath of office Thursday as he prepares to begin his first elected term behind the bench.
Rodabaugh was appointed March 1, 2016, to fill a vacancy on the judiciary created with the retirement of former Judge Rickard Workman. Rodabaugh, a Republican, was elected without opposition in November to his own six-year term of office.
During a brief ceremony Thursday morning in Lima Municipal Court, presiding Judge Tammie Hursh called the gathering “a really happy occasion for us.” She said Rodabaugh had been a great asset during his brief tenure on the bench through his establishment of a second drug court and by helping erase a backlog of cases.
Third District Court of Appeals Judge John Willamowski issued the oath of office to Rodabaugh as the newest judge’s wife, Christine, and their daughters, Katie Campbell and Ashley Rodabaugh, looked on.
Rodabaugh spent 30 years in the private practice of law and was an attorney for the City of Lima for 12 years before assuming his role with the Lima Municipal Court.
