Another Lima pizza delivery man falls victim to armed robbery

LIMA — For the second time in as many weeks, a pizza delivery man was the victim of an armed robbery in Lima.

According to a report from the Lima Police Department, the latest incident occurred at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday at 319 Haller St., near downtown Lima. Michael Pickford, delivering for Papa John’s Pizza on Cable Road, was accosted and robbed of two pizzas, a two-liter bottle of soda and a pizza warming bag.

Police spokesman Jason Garlock said the two assailants, described as two black males wearing scarves and hats, approached Pickford and yelled “where is the money.” Pickford gave the robbers the money in his pocked, $17, and handed over the pizzas, soft drink and warming bag.

A black BB gun pistol was found in the back yard of a home just east of the scene, Garlock said, which was thought to have been used in the robbery.

The incident remains under investigation.

On Nov. 27, someone accosted Bella Notta’s Pizza driver Scott Dietz and only got away with two pizzas, two soft drinks and the warming bag. Dietz was not injured in his incident.
