Hensel shoots 74 for low round at Lima junior event

LIMA — Britton Hensel edged four others to win the boys 16-18 division Tuesday at the Heartlight Pharmacy Open held at the par 72 Oaks Golf Club.

Hensel shot a 74, the low round of the event, for a one-shot win against Jared Hernandez, Keaton McKinley, Kyle Naumann and Kayne Richardson. Hernandez went on to win the four-player playoff for second.

Jill Schmitmeyer shot a 75 for the girls 16-18 crown. Sierra Sammons and Jennifer Mitchell each shot 80 with Sammons winning the playoff for second. Ethan Harmon won the boys 14-15 championship with an 81. Nick Fischio and Austin Radcliff each shot 84 with Fischio winning the playoff for second place. Erin Mulcahy won the girls 15 and under title with a nine-hole score of 4-over-par 40. Mary Kelly Mulcahy defeated Alivia Koenig in a playoff for second after each shot 41. Haylee Wurm won the 11 and under peewee competition with a 43. Sullivan Hasting was second with a 53.

The next Lima Junior Golf Association – McDonald’s Junior Series event will be the Superior Credit Union Open at Celina Lynx Golf Club.
