Weisenburger

third in tourney

Kylie Weisenburger of Ottawa jumped into third place after the second day of fishing Friday in the Walmart FLW BFL All-American on Lake Barkley. Weisenburger has a two-day weight is 28 pounds, 9 ounces.

“Yesterday I had 15.9 and caught all of my fish shallow the way I like to fish throwing a buzzbait and a jig,” Weisenburger said. “Today it got very hot and I only had three small fish at 1 p.m. and I decided to take a gamble and try deeper. About the fourth spot I pulled into I caught three nice keepers and also caught a 4-pound smallmouth with 15 minutes to spare. I felt revived with new confidence that maybe these new areas will hold more fish tomorrow.”

He added, “I am looking very forward to the final day. It’s a very special week having all the family here and such a great atmosphere.”

The top 10 bass anglers from a field of 49 qualified for the third and final day of competition. The top two remained the same after two days of fishing.

Jeremy Lawyer, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, leads with a weight of 33 pounds, 2 ounces. Drew Boggs, of Lebanon, Tennessee, is second at 18 pounds, 10 ounces.

The top 10 boaters and co-anglers take off from Lake Barkley State Resort Park Marina at 7 a.m. today for the final round of competition. Today’s weigh-in begins at 5:30 p.m. on the Walmart FLW Tour stage at Kentucky Dam State Park Marina in Gilbertsville, Ky. It will be broadcast live on FLWFishing.com.
