Red Cross to give out smoke alarms, teach first aid in Putnam County

OTTAWA — The American Red Cross will be going door to door Saturday in Ottawa, Glandorf and Continental to install smoke alarms where needed and teach residents how to prepare for home fires. Fire departments from each community, along with the Knights of Columbus, will also participate in the program.

Each station will kick off the event at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the goal being to visit between 300 and 400 homes.

The American Red Cross of West Central Ohio will also hold Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED courses from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 15 and every other Tuesday, except during holidays, at the Putanm County Educational Service Center, 124 Putnam Parkway.
