St. Charles presents ‘Feast of Light’

LIMA — It has been called the greatest story ever told.

Members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church will perform the Feast of Light live at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The presentation tells the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.

“It is where Christmas begins,” said Rita Marcoux, who is involved in the production of the play.

The play includes both a re-enactment of Jesus’ birth beginning from the angel approaching Mary to tell her of the birth.

“It starts from that point because of the anticipation,” Marcoux said. “You are waiting for Christ to come. It gives push for people to start thinking.”

The presentation, complete with Mary and Joseph, angels, shepherds and kings, also includes live performances from the church’s bell choir, adult choir and children’s choir. The event has been popular at the church, as it is the 10th presentation in 15 years. The final rehearsal for the play/performance took place Wednesday.

Marcoux said the event is open to the public. The church is located at 2200 W. Elm St.
