Letter: Guns stop crime? What a joke

”Feeling safe” makes you safe?

The man selling that brand of pablum belongs to a group made up of economists, the lot of whom failed to predict, forestall, mitigate, or otherwise rescue the nearly total collapse of the world’s monetary systems; and now being zero-sum in that department, propose to tell Americans how to fight crime—namely, by encouraging more sales of guns, which (incidentally) are what’s killing Americans.

Evidently, PhDs can’t stop talking theory or reading “doctored” statistics long enough to read the papers or watch the news on TV.

The same John Lott wrote a “whole” book called “The Bias Against Guns,” either trying to explain, or to understand why some people don’t like guns.

Duh!

Who wrote this guy’s doctoral thesis?

Guns prevent crime?

China, who has absolute control of citizens’ access to firearms—and considers talking out of turn a crime and executes white collars for embezzlement—has over one billion more people than the USA and half the prison population.

Do you need somebody to explain that to you?

It takes longer to learn how to tie your shoes than it does to learn how to shoot a firearm. But there are enough guns in America now to put at least two in each person’s hands, yet many children attend school without a decent pair of shoes, but armed to shoot their classmates.

Who wants to be famous as the first hero to shoot a six year old student in self-defense?
