Indians provide families with fun, affordable experience

One night in Cleveland.

But it was a special night for my family and me last Friday.

I have made it clear that I love visiting Cleveland, especially when there is a sporting event involved.

When I was young, the times that we would go into Cleveland, we would just go to the sporting event and leave.

Now I enjoy doing other things in Cleveland, besides going to the Indians, Browns and Cavaliers games.

Actually, it’s been several years since I have been to a Cavs’ game.

A little tougher ticket to get these days, isn’t it?

Thank you LeBron, for coming home and for making the Cavaliers relevant again, but doggone it, it costs an arm AND a leg to go to a Cavs game, if you can even get a ticket.

I go to at least one Browns game a year, and that is usually enough for me.

And the way the Browns have played the last several years, you would think they would be offering discount tickets.

They don’t.

But, let me tell you that the Indians are doing everything they can to make it affordable for you to take your family to the ballpark and watch major league baseball.

They even have a ticket where it only costs you $13 to get into the game and your first drink is on them.

I have already been to three Indians’ games already this season, but last Friday’s was special.

First off, I knew that we were spending the night in Cleveland, so I was pumped about that.

It is never the drive TO Cleveland that gets you — it is the drive home that is a killer.

With a 7:10 p.m. start you are lucky to get back to Lima by 1 a.m.

Ugh!

But last Friday, we didn’t have to worry about that, and what a great time the Koza family had.

First off, when we arrived into the city, the sun was shining brightly.

When was the last time we have had sun here in Limaland?

Secondly, park our car at the hotel, and just walk to the stadium from there — awesome!

In the outfield area, there was a band playing, and the Indians had a couple of former Tribe greats signing autographs for the fans.

And did I mention that the Indians were offering $2 Bud and Bud Light cans until 7 p.m.?

$2 for a beer?

Oh, and all night long, it was $1 dog night, so one buck for a hot dog.

A lot of stadium mustard, please.

And then, to watch a great game, a game in which the Indians actually won.

And there were a lot of fans there to watch the game-nearly 29,000.

Oh, and after the game the Indians offered a huge fireworks display that rivaled what we get to enjoy every Fourth of July here in Lima with the Star Spangled Spectacular.

Except this past Fourth of July.

And then after the game and after the fireworks, we could have gone on to the casino or visited one of Cleveland’s many downtown bars or restaurants.

But thanks to the Indians, our evening was complete, and we walked back to our hotel and called it a night.

A great night.

I am ready to do it again.

Thank you Indians — for making it affordable to take my family to a pro sporting event and offering all that you do.

More families should be taking advantage of it.

Now, if the Indians can start winning some more games, once the second half resumes Friday, please?
