Division II boys and girls first team all-state honors have gone to Shawnee’s Carter Jensen and Bath’s Chandler Clark respectively from the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.
Shawnee’s Jake Miller, Celina’s Josh Kuehne, Elida’s Draek Littler and Kenton’s Patrick Bartlett made the D-II boys second team. Celina’s Makenna Klingshirn, Shawnee’s Madi Mason, Bath’s Ainsley Miller and St. Marys’ Emma Wibbeler made the D-II girls second team.
Botkins’ Zane Paul made the D-III first team and Bluffton’s Matt Daws and Jonathon Schriner and Kalida’s Gabe Hovest received D-III boys second team recognition. Cory-Rawson’s Zoe Chisholm, Continental’s Alex Hoeffel and Lima Central Catholic’s Annika Wilker were named to the D-III girls second team.

Kenton wide receiver Jayden Cornell (offensive back of the year) and linebacker Luke Fackler (defensive back of the year), Ottawa-Glandorf tackle Aaron Rieman (offensive lineman of the year), Wapakoneta end Isaac Meeks (defensive lineman of the year), St. Marys’ Ty Howell (kicking specialist) and Kenton’s Brent Fackler and Wapak’s Travis Moyer (co-coaches of the year) received top honors in the Western Buckeye League.
Joining Cornell and Rieman on the first team offense were guards Logan Allen (SM) and Logan Schmitz (O-G), flex Brennan Blevins (O-G), quarterback Blaine Houston (Kenton), running backs Howell, Evan Kaeck (Wapak) and Clay Recker (O-G), tackles Bryan Ward (SM) and Colin Place (Van Wert), centers Riley Sweigart (SM) and Tyler Shroyer (Wapak), tight end Isaac Meeks (Wapak) and wide receiver Landon Rush (Kenton).
Joining Fackler and Meeks on the first team defense were backs Howell, Devin Huelskamp (Wapak) and Jayden Cornell (Kenton), end Blake Kanorr (SM), flex Lucas Walter (SM), interior linemen Noah Eikenbary (Kenton), Trey Fisher (SM), Keagon Hammons (VW) and Rieman and linebackers Kaeck and Reed Merricle (Wapak).

ONU loses
on penalty kicks
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Ohio Northern and St. Norbert (Wisconsin) played to a scoreless draw after 90 minutes of regulation and two overtimes in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Zuidema Field.
But in tournament play someone has to advance, and SNC edged ONU 3-2 in penalty kicks to keep its season alive.
The Polar Bears end their season at 13-6-3, while the Knights (16-4-3) advance to the second round and will play tournament host and No. 2-ranked Calvin (Michigan) at 1 p.m. today.
The match officially goes as a 0-0 draw with St. Norbert advancing in the tournament on penalty kicks.
Luke Fickenworth and senior Tim Hoffman each scored for ONU and keeper John Lombardo made two saves as the shootout was tied at 2-2 entering the fifth and final round.
Earlier, Ohio Northern had six players garner All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors. Beelal Hasan and Levi King each received first-team All-OAC recognition.
Lombardo and Seth Gundlach were named second-team All-OAC. Fickenworth and Jimmy Walkinshaw received honorable mention recognition.

for UNOH duo
LIMA — St. Marys grad Erika Angstmann and New Bremen grad Devon Heitkamp from the University of Northwestern Ohio were selected College Sports Infornation Directors of America (CoSIDA) NAIA First Team Academic All-District.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Honorees selected first team Academic All-District advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

GRANVILLE — The 15-minute halftime break did wonders for Ohio Northern at Denison. The Polar Bears opened the second half on a big scoring run and turned a deficit into a double-digit lead en route to a victory.
The win pushed Northern to 2-1 on the season, while the loss dropped the Big Red to 0-2 on the year.
C.J. Napier led the way for ONU with a game-high 27 points. He also added six rebounds and two assists.
Landen Long was the other Polar Bear in double figures with 16 points.
